Glass
has its uses as a window and a surface, and many office spaces make
liberal use of the material due to its versatility. However, glass
makes for a poor divider, and there's little privacy to be had when
one can easily peer through a glass wall. This is why frosting film
was developed, i.e., to provide an easy way to render parts of the
glass opaque without having to completely replace it.
Frosting
film is basically an adhesive vinyl or polyester film that has a
thin layer of ground dust on it. When applied to a glass surface, it
obscures the portion it was applied on without completely blocking
out the light; frosting actually has some degree of translucency to
it. These films are a much more economical choice over actually
having frosted glass made.
The
film isn't just for maintaining privacy; it can be used for
decorative purposes as well. A little frosting can provide a cool
look to a modern office setting. When cut into various shapes,
frosting can also take the place of wallpaper for rooms with glass
walls. The film can even be cut to depict company logos or names of
the room's occupants. Frosting film is a very handy product, and
businesses with a lot of glass in their buildings might want to start
sticking a couple of these decals around.
